Secrets of Ulduar and Furious Gladiator Season - trailer and details before releasing!

Recommended Posts

MrCulé    146

Good morning, Angrathar community!

It's time to announce the new season. This season makes Wrath of the Lich King tower over other WoW expansions. A raid that is one of the most challenging and well scripted, so the challengers exploring the Secrets of Ulduar won't be disappointed.

Trailer link:

Ulduar - May 26, 2018!

Now that we know the date Ulduar starts, let's talk about PvE and the details of Ulduar. We'll create DBM addon version out of this data.

Post-nerf - values that were nerfed in the next patches of Ulduar;

Pre-nerf - the former values of the boss; some of them

Fit pre-nerf - the values modified by us, when there's no pre-nerf version of a said encounter.

There are lots of changes and we wanted to accomplish the following things:

Ulduar 25

  • Ulduar has to be pug-friendly for some of the keepers in normal versions;
  • Casual PvE guilds can do the whole normal mode of the raid and progress some HM bosses;
  • Hardcore and semi-hardcore PvE guilds will have a real challenge bestowed upon them and they will progress the greatly scripted raid relatively long. We hope that the competition will be exciting and will bring you lots of fun.

If Ulduar 25 turns out to be too much of a challenge for pugs and casual guilds, we will nerf the parts dedicated to these players.

Ulduar 10 has to be progressed in whole by pugs, casual guilds and of course the best PvE players.

 Furious Gladiator Season

Along with PvE season, a new PvP season starts! The details of prizes and the requirements you need to meet can be found in the post below:

The end of PvE season will be preceded by PvP Tournament, which will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel. We'll also try to give it a proper commentary. We hope that you're gonna have lots of fun, more details in the context of PvP Tournament will follow. The Tournament will be organized the weekend before new content release.

Deadly Gladiator Season ends 21st May, 23:00 CET (Realm Time).

Emalon - Vault of Archavon

Second boss in Vault of Archavon - Emalon - will be released on 1st June (2nd "ulduar ID") in both versions 10man and 25man.

Content changes

As Angrathar is a progerssive realm, we have some changes in WotLK content. They're not as big as Call of the Crusade content changes, but here we go:

  • New 213iLvl Kirin Tor rings;
  • The first part of Argent Tournament dailies;
  • New gems that can be dropped: Stormjewel

What will be reset in the next season?

Thank you for reading this! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Have a nice day!

Regarding " Sara shouldn't target players with Psychosis and Malady of the Mind when they have less than 40 Sanity", the pre-nerf hidden protection was at 30 sanity, and there is no information that it didn't exist at all at some point:

(2009-07-02): "We've made one additional change to a specific element of the Yogg-Saron fight. Since the fight went live, there has been a hidden protection for players that prevents the casting of Psychosis and Malady of the Mind on targets with less than 30 Sanity. However, because Malady of the Mind has a slow missile speed and the hidden protection could take a second or two to apply, it was quite possible for the 30 sanity targeting threshold to be breached by these two random unavoidable effects.
To try to address this we're raising the threshold to 40 sanity, and increasing the missile speed of Malady of the Mind. Note that the spells are still being cast just as often, so the net sanity loss to the raid will still be the same. This hotfix just evens out the random targeting of the spells across the raid. Also note that the threshold is for targeting purposes of those two spells only, and this fix means Psychosis or Malady of the Mind can still bring you below 40 sanity. If you have 41 sanity, you're a valid target and can then be brought to 32 sanity by a casting of Psychosis on you.
"

I tried to find any posts on mmo-champion that indicate that there was indeed no hidden protection, but i didn't.

I'm fine with the pre-hotfix version of 30 sanity hidden protection, but no protection at all is pure insanity. On top of buffing the hp of yogg and the brain by 50% (20% increased hp from thorim and 20% reduced damage taken from hodir multiplies to an equivalent of 50% hp increase) and reducing the enrage timer by 5 minutes, many would argue yogg0 is not killable, but on top of that, having no hidden protection from sara in 2nd phase is just bringing an insane amount of rng that is purely unavoidable, and it further affects the overall damage done to yogg in phase 3, because less sanity=less time you can face yogg and dps while he is casting lunatic gaze (if you get lucky to reach p3 without someone going insane, as with the custom buffs it will be pretty hard to do p2 in less than 4 brain phases).

Keep in mind that only 2 guilds killed yogg0 before the big nerfs came into place (Stars and Paragon, toc and the nerfs came the following week), and they killed it after the supposed hotfixes, which you also refer to as nerfs, and without extra custom buffs on top of that. The kill timers of both guilds were over 11 minutes, considering they had 3 brain phases, which will more than likely not be possible here because of the buffs to the brain. With simple math you will be able to see that enrage timer wont be beatable, I think an 11-12 minutes enrage timer would make more sense, also keep in mind that phase 3 has a soft enrage timer on its own, which is about 200 seconds, by which time tanks and healers will just not be able to handle the damage. Only 2 guilds in the world have ever been able to manage p3 properly, and there is no such guild on the private server community thus far (because no server has had a true pre-nerf version), so 99,99% of guilds will not be able to kill the boss with the custom buffs even if there was no enrage timer at all.

On another note, you have forgotten another pre-nerf thing - the Immortal Guardians that are marked with shadow beacon should not be renamed to Marked Immortal Guardians.

There is one more thing that is further making the encounter harder, and that is the fact, that rogues no longer have improved Fan of Knives, which made it so fok could interrupt spells, so it was easy to interrupt drain life from immortal guardians even if there were 15+ of them. This will result in more raid damage from drain life and more tank damage, as the average hp of the immortal guardians will be higher (on top of having 10% extra dmg from mimiron).

Did you guys actually test that yogg 0? That fight was going to be hard enough with prenerf + a little hp. You are changing the content too much, and this is very concerning to me. You guys said you wouldn't be doing huge custom changes, and yet here you are with a wall of custom changes on the last boss. I came here to play wrath, and you guys are deviating too much.

The way you have formatted the table for the yogg changes....is extremely confusing. Clarify how the keepers work while being active on the encounter and inactive.

Each keeper originally did both a buff to players and a debuff to yogg or his minions. It appears that you are having inactive keepers buff yogg saron and his minions instead of doing nothing while inactive. That is the "wall of custom changes" fizzly is alluding to. Or at least, it seems that way.

Edit: An additional note, the keepers that are active originally buffed players damage by 10% per keeper as well as their specific buff/debuff. This is not mentioned anywhere.

Yup, and its going to cause the exact same horrible stuff that happened with the custom changes malygos. Guilds are going to have to class stack as many warlocks as possible for phase 3. That's horrible, and that's coming from a warlock, who is in a guild that guessed this was going happen and has been gearing up ~8 warlocks.

Forcing class stacking is horrible for the game, it looks like you didn't learn from Maly 25 at all. You somehow figured out that Maly25 was a mistake, and are reverting your changes to that encounter. Yet here you are forcing more class stacking on a fight that already favored warlocks. So the guilds like mine will have a chance to kill this encounter, and the guilds that don't have tons of warlocks are screwed.

If you guys are fine with that then that's your decision, I just had thought you had learned from Maly25.

I think noone here (you & me included) don't know how this content will be progressed on 3.3.5 patch. It may go like u've written but well, it could go also either way. Just look at Naxxramas which was still easy for you even when we DOUBLED health points of bosses. People on 3.1 content had extremely low dps compared to yours here so I wouldn't be worried about that. If some hard modes will be truly undoable then I'm sure we will intervene, but every single change that may have influence on RF race will be implemented with ID reset.

I ensure you Psychosis and Malady of the Mind won't target players who have <30 Sanity.

Forgot to mention about Immortal Guardian because they're already done :P They don't rename since we fixed it long time ago.

If you guys are fine with that then that's your decision, I just had thought you had learned from Maly25.

If we won't boost yogg 0k stacking XX warlock will still be best option to max dps on this encounter so what's the difference here? I don't see our fault here but patch changes. Stacking up top dps will always take place because rf > everything, especially when we are talking about 'pro' guilds. Same thing will happen on Anub (when u will probably stack unh), and same thing will happen on LK (where miraculously you will play with 2-3 warriors instead of 1). I don't blame anyone here cuz its normal...

Oh, we leared from Malygos quite a lot. There will be no hidden mechanics. We gave you all timers, all pre-nerfs we decided to upload, and even all boosts we decided to implement. No tricks this time so I don't get why u compare Uldu to Malygos.

For me it looks like you want to just nuke yogg 0k in few weeks and /yell in Dalaran how easy it was and when ToGC will be released ;D Just be patient and try to progress it friends! On Feronis they played with -15% damage aura in entire Ulduar map zone and they did it quite easily... aren't u better? ;p

There's a difference between class stacking to make the encounter easier, and class stacking to make the encounter possible. If you guys actually tested this fight and were able to kill it without 6+ warlocks then sure. Adding 1-2 more of a class to make an encounter doable is somewhat normal, adding 3+ of a class is completely different.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope that some guilds not running 6+ warlocks are able to kill yogg 0.

I ensure you Psychosis and Malady of the Mind won't target players who have >30 Sanity.

I assume this is a typo?

Your statement means it will only target players with less than 30 sanity.

Graal: Yeah... :P

It is your fault though. Blizzard understood that massive class stacking was bad design and did their best to avoid it. Stars world first yogg kill had 5 locks. It was a pretty balanced raid composition. You making custom changes and forcing players to "cheese" encounters just shows that you have no idea how to tune encounters while maintaining balance and you should not be messing with it.

You should've continued with your previous trend of changes to ulduar which was only health pools and enrage timers.
